Ewell Castle School´s students came to visit us last June, so it was our turn to travel to London to visit our new friends.
We
left early on Tuesday 20th September and we arrived at the school
around lunch time. All our friends were waiting for us excitedly. As
they were meant to have a Spanish lesson after lunch, Mr March (their
Spanish teacher) organised some ice-breaking games for all of us, and
they also gave us a tour of the school.
School finished at
3:30, so each of us had to make our way to our partner´s house, some
travelling by train, while others travelled by bus.
On
Wednesday 21st we spent the whole day at school. We had lessons with
Year 11, which corresponds to 4th ESO here in Spain. It was an
interesting experience to see how the different subjects were taught in a
British school. We found maths really easy but English literature was
extremely complex.
On Thursday and Friday, Rachel, our English
teacher took us to the centre of London. We went to Madame Tussauds
(the wax museum) where we took hundreds of pictures and selfies with
celebrities. We also went to the Harry Potter shop at Kings Cross
Station, then we headed for Soho and China Town, where we had lunch at a
real Chinese restaurant. On Friday morning we rode on the London Eye,
we were really lucky with the weather and it was a beautifully sunny
day. We also had some time to do some souvenir shopping in Piccadilly,
Oxford Street and Regent Street.
The weekend was spent with our
host families and we all did different activities. Some students went
to Brighton for the day, others to the Harry Potter studios, and some
just went out for meals.
All in all, this exchange has been an
amazing experience that we will never forget. Not only have we improved
our English, but we have also made friends for ever.
